Calan
A multicam shoot for the Welsh, alt-folk band, Calan in 2021. They were about to release their album, 'Jêl Caerdydd' and would usually be touring festivals etc., but lockdown changed all their plans, so they decided to broadcast their album premier and launch party on line, where fans could but tickets to view.
The Calan team presented us with their design of a pentagonal stage for the band to perform on and a lighting setup for the whole show. Each member had their own stage/ back drop which was decorated in the style of band member and was a 'window' into that individuals world. referencing how Zoom calls, which had become commonplace at the time, were windows into the caller's home. During our own Zoom calls, the team shared set designs with us which assisted is pre-planing camera setups.
Cameras were placed opposite each band members with additional cameras cutting across the action and a top down shot too. To cut down on costs, this was achieved with 5 cameras, with the band performing a 2nd time to playback for us to capture extra performance shots. the show was then edited to one, long, 43min performance and that was broadcasted online through a streaming platform with tickets sold before hand.
Here's some photos from another Multicam I worked on recently.
