Tom Jenkins
One of the positives about working with Tom is that he lives his branding, so branding never entered the conversation. He farms 600 acres with beautiful scenery so what we ended up doing was walking around the farm finding areas where the light fell beautifully and filming him in these areas. With other artists, if they hadn't already, we would need to work out what the branding is and then find the right locations and the right attire. There was no need to in this case.
Magic Mushroom Island
The music video is shot with a custom 'ISCO Redstar' lens in vertical anamorphic, de-squeezed to 4x3. The lens was mounted on a 90° angle and then the whole camera rotated by 90° so that the lens is now at 180°. Therefore we are filming in vertical, de-squeezing horizontally and maintaining horizontal anamorphic flares.
This works better than traditional widescreen anamorphic as it gives a new cinematic look unseen before by the general public and also creating an aspect ratio which works better on all media platforms.
Under the Sun
Here's another MV I directed for Tom. Before the shoot, he mentioned that he wanted it to seem like the BTS of the video is the music video.
It Comes In the Morning
Here's another music video I shot with Tom where we utilised DMX lighting. something I intend to become more accustom with.
